Rokko Cable Car
It takes about 10 minutes from downtown Kobe to the top of Mt. Rokko! Retro cute cable car.
The Rokko Cable opened in 1932. The cable car connects the Rokko Cable Lower Station at the foot of the mountain, which has a height difference of approximately 500 m and a total length of approximately 1,700 m, to the Rokko Sanjo Station in approximately 10 minutes.
There are two types of cars: the "classic type," which is mainly red, and the "retro type," which is mainly green. Both are two-car trains, and the lower car has a glass-roofed observation car for easy viewing of the surrounding scenery. They are popular for their photo-worthy retro atmosphere, along with the Rokko Cable Lower Station with its hut-style design and the Rokko Sanjo Station building, which remains unchanged from the time of its opening.
Rokko Sanjo Station is adjacent to Tenran-dai, a viewing platform from which visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Kobe and its beautiful nightscape. In addition, the Rokko Sanjo Bus and the Rokko Maya Sky Shuttle Bus, which go around the Maya Mountain area, arrive and depart from in front of the station, taking passengers to popular spots on Mt. Rokko such as the ROKKO Forest Sound Museum, Rokko Garden Terrace, and the ropeway station to Arima Onsen. Rokko, making it a convenient gateway for sightseeing on Mt. Rokko.
