Covering approximately 8.6 hectares, Dogo Park is a spacious urban park developed on the nationally designated Yuzuki Castle Ruins. The entire park occupies the former site of a castle that stood from the early 14th to the late 16th century, and remnants such as earthen ramparts and moats can still be seen today. The site is protected as a National Historic Site under the name Yuzuki Castle Ruins. The park has an almost tortoiseshell-shaped layout about 350 meters in diameter, with a central hill rising roughly 30 meters. From the observation deck, visitors can enjoy panoramic views over the Matsuyama Plain, making it a popular scenic viewpoint.

Today, the park serves as a green oasis for local residents. From late March to early April each year, around 300 cherry trees bloom throughout the grounds, and the blossoms are illuminated at night, attracting many visitors as a popular cherry-blossom viewing spot.

The park is also home to a number of attractions, including the Shiki Memorial Museum, dedicated to Matsuyama-born haiku poet Masaoka Shiki, as well as samurai residences, the Yuzuki Castle Museum, and other historic sites. When visiting Dogo Onsen, known as Japan’s oldest hot spring, this park is well worth a stop.
