Nestled in the lush green landscapes stretching from JR Mitake Station to Sawai Station and Gunma Station in Ome City, Tokyo, the "Mitake Gorge" is celebrated for its autumn foliage. As a part of the "Chichibu Tama Kai National Park," it boasts unparalleled scenic beauty with streams chosen as one of the "100 Exquisite Waters of Japan."

A well-maintained walking path of about 4km stretches along both banks of the Tama River, allowing visitors to easily enjoy the changing scenery across seasons. Especially during the autumn season, the place bustles with activity. Typically, from early November, ginkgo and maple trees start to show vibrant hues, with the peak of autumn colors around the end of the month. During this time, the "Mitake Gorge Autumn Colors Festival" is held, and from mid to late November, the gorge is illuminated, offering a mesmerizing view distinct from the daytime.

The gorge is also famous as a "sanctuary for canoeing," catering to everyone from beginners to intermediate enthusiasts. Besides, one can indulge in a plethora of river activities like rafting and fishing.
