A popular sweets shop in Osu, a town connected to Tokugawa Ieyasu, where you can enjoy freshly made mochi.

Last update :

Located along a street near the Osu Shopping District lined with vintage clothing shops, Osu Tokugawa-an is a popular sweets shop where you can enjoy freshly pounded mochi. Since opening in 2021, it has become a popular spot, often drawing long lines.

Marked by a distinctive noren (curtain) featuring the Tokugawa family crest, this shop prepares soft, chewy mochi made to order. They offer a range of traditional options, including limited servings of chunky and smooth red bean paste (10 servings each per day), their original blend of kinako (soybean powder), as well as savory choices like isobeyaki (grilled seaweed-wrapped mochi) and grated daikon with soy sauce. For those who can’t decide, they offer a two-flavor mochi set and a luxurious four-piece bite-size set.

Additional toppings like espuma cream or ice cream can also be added to the mochi, and for +100 yen, you can enjoy a drink, such as tea or ago-dashi (flying fish broth). Seasonal specialties, like summer shaved ice topped with shiratama dango or warabi mochi, are also available. Mochi is available for takeaway, though it’s best enjoyed soon after, as it hardens over time.
