Arima Onsen Hyoe Koyokaku
A long-established ryokan in Arima Onsen with over 700 years of history.
With over 700 years of history, Hyoe Koyokaku is one of the oldest and most prestigious ryokan (traditional inns) in Arima Onsen. It first appeared in historical documents from the Muromachi period, such as the Inryoken Nichiroku (1466). This long-standing inn offers an exceptional experience with its three large bathhouses, each featuring the famous "Kin-sen" (golden spring) waters of Arima, known for their high iron and salt content, which turn a reddish-brown color when exposed to air.
Hyoe Koyokaku provides three distinct bathhouses, including "Ichi-no Yu" and "Ni-no Yu," which alternate daily between men and women, and "San-no Yu," designed to resemble a traditional healing bathhouse. Guests can enjoy both indoor and outdoor baths, as well as private open-air baths with garden views, all featuring the healing Kin-sen waters.
The ryokan offers a variety of room types, including Japanese-style rooms, Western-Japanese hybrid rooms, and rooms with private open-air baths. These rooms provide stunning views of the surrounding hot spring town or the ever-changing landscapes of the Rokko Mountains, creating a relaxing, otherworldly atmosphere. Dining options include seasonal kaiseki (multi-course) meals, charcoal-grilled kaiseki, and an "Arima Four Seasons Buffet," all focusing on fresh seasonal ingredients to reflect the beauty of Japan’s changing seasons.
In addition to the luxurious baths and dining, Hyoe Koyokaku features souvenir shops, a tea lounge, and a bar, offering guests a leisurely time during their stay. You can also borrow colorful yukata (light kimono) and enjoy a stroll around the charming streets of Arima Onsen.
