Experience the rich flavors of traditional eel cuisine at this long-established restaurant, cherished for 400 years since its founding in 1624. The restaurant's name originates from an episode where the famed Toyotomi Hideyoshi once stopped by to rest and took off his straw sandals.

The signature dish, "Unabe to Uzofusui," is a popular course that allows you to enjoy both "Unabe," a soup-like dish made with domestic eel, and "Uzofusui," a new pot dish containing rice, vegetables, and grilled eel. The ingredients in "Unabe" are simple, consisting of chopped eel, white leeks, Shonai fu, and vermicelli. The grilled eel's fragrant flavor and the rich broth enhanced with ginger perfectly complement each other, allowing you to fully savor the eel's natural taste. Following this, "Uzofusui" offers a gentle broth infused with the umami of various ingredients, including eggs and mochi, making it both flavorful and hearty.

The atmosphere of the restaurant, steeped in history, is exceptionally cozy. Conveniently located near attractions such as Sanjusangendo and the Kyoto National Museum, it is ideal for tourists.
