Located along Enoshima Benzaiten Nakamise Street, which stretches from the bronze torii gate to the vermilion torii of Enoshima Shrine, this popular shop is always bustling with a line of customers. The main attraction is its signature dish, a whole grilled octopus senbei, made by pressing 2-3 whole octopuses into a crispy cracker.

The octopus is meticulously pre-processed about eight times to remove any excess salt, ensuring that its natural flavor shines through. It is then lightly seasoned, coated in starch, and laid out on a hotplate. Using a press weighing about one ton and a high temperature of 190°C, the octopus is crisped up in just two minutes. The resulting senbei is square-shaped with the distinct shape of the octopus crisply outlined within it. The light soy-based seasoning enhances the flavor, concentrating the deliciousness of the octopus into a crunchy and irresistibly fragrant snack.

In addition to the signature whole grilled octopus senbei, Asahi Main Store also offers other variations such as whole grilled shrimp senbei and colorful shirasu-topped senbei, each ideal for snacking while walking or as a gift or accompaniment to drinks.
