The "Gifu Light Story 2024" is a distinctive light-up event in Gifu City, utilizing traditional crafts such as Gifu umbrellas and Gifu lanterns, both designated as national traditional crafts.
The light-up takes place at Gifu Park and Shobo-ji Temple, with the main photo spot being the "Kabukimon Gate" at the entrance to the Gifu Park area. The gate, along with displayed Gifu umbrellas, is illuminated in colorful lighting, creating an exceptional photo opportunity. The staircase features projection mapping leading to an approximately 50m long illuminated pathway. Highlights include the "Umbrella Waterfall," a three-dimensional display of numerous Gifu umbrellas, and the "Phantom Light Waterfall," which vividly colors the imaginary garden of the feudal warlord Oda Nobunaga through powerful projection mapping.
Additionally, Shobo-ji Temple offers a solemn atmosphere different from usual, adorned with Gifu lanterns and color lighting, complementing the Gifu Great Buddha.
During weekends within the event period, "Gifu Castle Panoramic Night View" is held, where visitors can enjoy a 360-degree night view of Gifu City from the Gifu Castle tower.
