Yumekyobashi Castle Road

A charming shopping street located near Hikone Castle, renowned for its nationally designated treasure, the castle keep. The street takes its name from Kyobashi Bridge, which spans the castle moat.

Designed to resemble an Edo-period castle town, the street stretches approximately 350 meters southwest from the old Naka-moat’s Kyobashi Bridge. Buildings along the road feature white walls, black latticework, and gable roofs, maintaining a harmonious aesthetic that complements the castle’s historic ambiance. The six-meter-wide road provides ample space for visitors, transporting them to another world.

Lined with eateries, sweets shops, and souvenir stores, the street offers unique local specialties. It’s an essential stop after touring Hikone Castle, perfect for enjoying the town’s nostalgic atmosphere and culinary delights.
