Sobue Ginkgo Park

Inazawa City in Aichi Prefecture is one of Japan's leading producers of ginkgo nuts, with the Sobue area being particularly renowned for its production. The town boasts over 10,000 ginkgo trees, and each autumn, the entire region is bathed in a wash of golden hues.

Swing by between mid to late November for the annual Sobue Ginkgo Yellow Leaves Festival, with "Sobue Ginnan Park" serving as one of the festival's key locations. The park is designed as a space for diverse interactions under themes like Ginkgo, History, and Health. Visitors can observe all four of the major ginkgo varieties cultivated in Sobue—Kyuju, Tokuro, Eishin, and Kinbei—within the park.

During the yellow leaf season, the park’s 7.5-meter-high observation deck offers a panoramic view of the surrounding ginkgo trees. The golden carpet of fallen leaves covering the park is also a sight to behold.

Make your way around the park to find notable spots like Yusonji Temple and the area around Meitetsu Yamazaki Station, where visitors can see ginkgo trees over 100 years old and the original Kyuju tree. Using this park as a base, it's recommended to explore the various yellow leaf spots in Sobue.
