Opened in Ikebukuro in 2006, Butler Café Swallowtail is the world’s first butler café. Located in a basement that resembles a grand Western mansion, it offers a refined atmosphere where butlers in tailcoats provide attentive service.

Inside, large chandeliers hang from the ceiling, casting light over classical chairs and tables, creating a rich, elegant ambiance. From the warm welcome at the door, you’re attended to by footmen who address you as “milady” or “young master,” offering subtle and graceful hospitality.

During tea time, enjoy a wide selection of teas served in butler-selected teacups, along with handmade cakes and afternoon tea crafted by in-house pâtissiers. Some teas feature unique blends created by the butlers themselves, adding to the café’s charm and appeal. In the evening, a full-course dinner menu is available.

Reservations must be made in advance through the website, though walk-ins may be accepted if there are cancellations or available seats. Please note that photography, smartphone use, and smoking are prohibited inside. Both tea and dinner times are timed sessions, with additional guidelines listed on the website, so it’s recommended to review them before your visit.
