Hiroshima Flower Festival
A vibrant floral festival filled with events that promote peace from Hiroshima to the world.
The Hiroshima Flower Festival is held every year from May 3rd to 5th, with the main venues set around Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Peace Boulevard. Since its first edition in 1977, the festival has attracted over 1.6 million visitors annually, making it one of Japan’s most iconic and beloved events.
The first day of the event on May 3rd brings the Grand Flower Parade, complete with some 8,000 participants dressed in floral-themed costumes and performances march along Peace Boulevard. On the final day, May 5th, the Kinsai YOSAKOI dance event brings together 90 groups and 5,000 dancers, with performances slated for spots along Peace Boulevard and on the Carnation Stage in Peace Memorial Park. Whether singing or dancing, there are plenty of bonus acts to enjoy at stages across the venue.
A major highlight of the festival is the 8-meter-tall "Flower Tower" inside Peace Memorial Park, beautifully decorated with carnations and petunias. Flowers grown by local schools and facilities are also on display alongside origami crane sculptures, creating an atmosphere filled with messages of peace. And for food lovers, over 100 food stalls line Peace Boulevard, offering a variety of delicious treats not to be missed.
