Douhatsu Honkan Chinese Restaurant

A longtime favorite in Yokohama Chinatown, “Douhatsu Honkan” is a Cantonese restaurant founded in the Meiji era. Starting out as a grocery shop, it has continued serving authentic Cantonese cuisine while preserving its traditional flavors.

The specialty is roasted meats. It offers such exceptional dishes that it’s known as “Douhatsu for roasted meats.” The glossy red char siu is moist and tender, and served with mustard it brings out even more flavor. The pork belly with crispy skin offers an exquisite balance of crackly skin and juicy meat.

The weekday-only Hong Kong–style lunch is also popular. Choose a main from six options, such as char siu or the daily special, and it comes with stir-fried vegetables, rice, and pickles. The appeal is enjoying authentic Cantonese cuisine at a reasonable price. For dinner, there are also premium course menus featuring shark fin soup, Japanese Black Wagyu, spiny lobster, and abalone.

Takeout is also available, with items like char siu, pork belly with crispy skin, and aromatic roasted duck. It’s also nice that you can try a variety of flavors, including Chinese sausage and brined offal in six varieties.
