In Kameari, located in Katsushika Ward, Tokyo, bronze statues and manhole covers featuring characters from the popular manga “Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo” (commonly known as KochiKame) are installed throughout the town. They are scattered across both the north and south sides of JR Kameari Station on the JR Joban Line. In total, there are 15 statues and six design manhole covers.

Among the statues, the color bronze statues of Kankichi Ryotsu, Keiichi Nakagawa, and Reiko Akimoto located near the south exit of Kameari Station are especially well known, as is the “Double Peace Ryotsu Statue” in Kameari Park. Centered on the main character Kankichi Ryotsu, the statues depict the characters in a variety of poses. The manhole covers are installed on streets around Kameari Station and feature designs not only of Ryotsu but also of characters such as Chief Ohara and Hayato Honda.

At the Kameari Tourist Information Center, located in the Kameari Ginza Shopping Street (commonly known as You Road), visitors can receive a manhole card featuring Kankichi Ryotsu. You can also pick up a “Statue Tour Map” showing the locations of the statues and manhole covers. Exploring these spots while strolling through the town that inspired the manga is one of the area’s unique attractions.
