Tenryu-ji Temple

This Zen temple was once ranked first among Kyoto's Five Mountains, and it is also designated as a World Heritage Site. There are many things to see in the precincts, including Sogenchi Teien (Sogen Pond Garden) and Unryuzu (Cloud-Dragon Painting).

After visiting Tenryu-ji Temple, you can also check out the Bamboo Grove and Nonomiya Shrine nearby.

The cloud dragon painting on the ceiling is beautiful and probably the most famous artwork at Tenryu-ji. It's a shame you can't take photos.

You can see the north gate of Tenryu-ji Temple just by walking along the bamboo path. You can also buy tickets to enter here. The Sogen Pond Garden was designed over 700 years ago and is a famous stroll garden.
