    During the Edo period, Nagasaki was only open to the Dutch and Chinese. This area used to be where foreigners lived, and there are lots of beautiful Western-style buildings on both sides.

    After the big earthquake, many parts of the castle are still under repair. Some of the collapsed areas are quite shocking to see. The restoration is expensive and time-consuming, but I hope it's finished soon.

    This is known as one of the oldest and most famous stone arch bridges in Japan. Its reflection in the water looks like a pair of glasses, which is why it's called Spectacles Bridge. Even after so many years, the bridge still feels really solid.
