This time, we would like to introduce you Harimazaka where is near Koishikawa Botanical Garden and located in Bunkyou-ku of Tokyo.

The place is just few minutes walking distance from Myougadani Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line. After pass the ticket gate and walk through Kasugadoori, there will be a huge road junction where is the starting point for cherry blossoms viewing : Harimazaka.

Located in a corner of Japanese National Route 3, Harimazaka is a slope and usually cars are not allowing to drive through.

There are approximately 130 Someiyoshino cherry trees in bloom, and the scenery is absolutely beautiful when visitors walk down the slope and seeing these amazing cherry blossoms. In the blooming period, many visitors will bring their own sitting mat under the cherry trees at Harimazaka Cherry Blossoms Avenue area.

The terminal of the slope is also the terminal of Japanese Natioanl Route 3. There is a large cross road in front of you and a board with “Entry to Botanical Garden” written on. If you follow the road will lead you to the Koishikawa Botanical Garden.

Koishikawa Botanical Garden is a Gardens of The University of Tokyo, and currently is open for public. There is a long and straight street after enter the garden in your left-hand side (Museum: connected with Western building and Japanese garden).

First of all, please walk up the slope, and you will see a lot of cherry blossoms are blooming in the area.

The amount of blooming cherry blossoms are large, so visitors are able to seeing these beautiful cherry blossoms easily. Having picnic, share food with family while viewing cherry blossoms under the trees are definitely recommended. The place is wide and comfortable without people making noise or people drinking under the cherry trees, so it is a family-friendly flower viewing spot. Please come along with young children and don't forget to bring your sitting mat.

Walking along the slope and towards to Japanese Gardens, will lead you to “The University Museum, The University of Tokyo, Koishikawa Branch” where is a red Western building combined with Japanese Garden, the place also has cherry blossoms blooming which creates a beautiful scenery.

If you would like to enjoy your pack lunch in quiet environment with cherry blossoms surrounding, the Koishikawa Botanical Garden is most recommended!

By the way, due to the facility is blong to the University of Tokyo, so there is a very huge apple tree in the garden. It is said reportedly that the tree is to inspire their students to imitate Newton's laws of universal gravitation, however it is just a normal apple tree for me...what do you think?
