Sweet Azuki Soup and Seasonal Lunches at Toraya, a Well-Established Japanese Sweet Shop in Ginza
Toraya is a Japanese sweet shop of long standing. With its history and connection to the Emperor of Japan, this premium brand has etched its name in the minds of those who love Japanese sweets.
This time, I visited their branch in Ginza 7-Chome. Sweets are sold on the first floor, and meals are served on the second.
The Menu
Sweet Azuki Bean Soup ¥1,296
For lunch, I ordered the sweet Azuki bean soup.
Three varieties of soup are available: Strained Azuki Paste, Coarse Azuki Paste, and White Azuki.
The smooth and fine Azuki soup was served with delicious Mochi (pounded rice cake). Making the best use of Wasanbon, a refined Japanese sugar, the sweetness of the rice cake was exquisite. This is the taste of Toraya!
Please be sure to try the traditional taste of Japanese sweets.
Seasonal Lunch
Here is the limited seasonal lunch I have eaten at Toraya before. It is a collaboration with Kanetanaka, well-established as one of Japan's three greatest Ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurants). Toraya made the Sekihan (red-bean rice), and Kanetanaka did the side dishes. It had such a delicious, refined flavor.
