The main branch “Shinjuku Isetan”, designated a historical landmark of Tokyo, is an old department store made up of several buildings, such as one mainly specializing in men’s items, and the Isetan Kaikan that mostly comprises restaurants and cafés.

The main building is made of stone, and its retro exterior stands out amongst the modern buildings that line the Shinjuku area.
The department store is particularly rich in fashion items, which are good quality and are enjoyed by a wide range of generations.

This is a huge department store—you could spend all day here and still not see everything. The floors are clearly organized, and there’s a separate building just for men’s items. The selection of suits is amazing.

  • You can really feel the attention to detail in service that you’d expect from a classic Japanese department store here.

Besides the department store goods, the exterior is also really unique!

  • It's a mid-to-high-end department store, but I wasn't too happy with the staff's attitude.

  • The night lights at this Shinjuku department store are gorgeous... I love strolling through department stores, and the staff here are super friendly. So many Japanese-made products—I wish I could take them all home!
