Last update :

Designated as a national Special Place of Scenic Beauty, Sandan-kyo is known as a remarkable secluded site in Western Japan. The entire ravine measures about 16 kilometers. There is also a man-powered ferryboat, from where you can enjoy the superb scenery within the gorge, where a Sansuiga-painting like world expands. The Five Great Sceneries which include Kurobuchi, Sarutobi, Nidan Falls, Sandan Falls and Mitsudaki Falls captivate the sightseers.

Another attraction of Sandan-kyo is the ever-changing natural landscape that can be enjoyed with the seasons. In particular, the intoxicating green of spring and the sight of autumn leaves falling on the streams are the most beautiful.

You can also experience kayak and paddle surfing (SUP) and other activities to enjoy the unique natural atmosphere of Sandan-kyo.
