Dogo Onsen is a popular tourist spot in the middle of Ehime that was once chronicled in The Nihon Shoki. Its even said to be Japan’s oldest hot spring resort. According to legend, there was once an egret that healed its injured leg after dipping in the springs of Dogo Onsen. At this onsen you’ll find an alkali simple spring, with smooth, gentle waters that soothe, rejuvenate and beautify the skin.

While currently under restorative construction, the springs are still open and available for events you will only be able to see for a limited time. • We didn't go in for the hot spring, but we took some photos with the building and explored the shopping street. It was a great way to soak in the local atmosphere!

  • This is a famous hot spring destination in Japan. Each bathhouse has its own unique charm. Definitely worth visiting to experience the local hot spring culture.

  • Even if you don't go in for a bath, you should definitely check out the beautiful architecture of the main building.

  • After touring the main building, there's a nice shopping street nearby that's fun to explore.

  • I just wandered around the entrance and took some photos as a souvenir. Honestly, I felt a bit awkward about actually going in for a bath.
