La Collina Omihachiman is the flagship store of the Taneya Group, a national brand originating from Omi Hachiman. In addition to the main store selling Japanese and Western confectioneries, cafes, castella stores, food courts, bakeries, and more, create a magnificent world of Taneya on the hills leading up from Hachimanyama.

As soon as I arrived at La Collina in Omihachiman, Shiga, I was completely captivated by the scenery before me.
The roof of the main building is covered in lush green grass, and the design is super cute. It's incredibly photogenic from every angle—any casual shot looks like a dreamy Instagram photo.
The architecture isn't the only eye-catching thing here—the desserts didn't disappoint at all! The signature cookies are rich, fragrant, and crispy. With all the greenery and the gentle breeze, my body, mind, soul, and appetite were all deeply satisfied! I highly recommend it to anyone who loves taking photos and enjoying good food. Be sure to add it to your must-visit list for Shiga.

Lake Biwa

Lake Biwa, which belongs to the first-grade Yodo River system and is located in the center of Shiga Prefecture, occupies an area of about 670 k㎡, or about one-sixth of the prefecture's land area, and is the largest lake in Japan in terms of both area and water storage capacity, with 27.5 billion tons of water pouring in through rivers from the surrounding mountains of Ibuki, Suzuka, and Hira, all of which are over 1,000 meters high.

I had been looking forward to the sunset and afterglow by the lake, but unfortunately, it was cloudy, so I didn't get to see the spectacular sight of the sun setting.
Although the golden glow was missing, Lake Biwa, covered by clouds across the sky, had a unique sense of tranquility and depth. A gentle breeze swept over the water, and the lake and mountains blended into one, like a still ink-wash painting.

Omi Shrine

The Omi Shrine is located on the site of the Omi Otsu no Miya Palace, which was the capital of Japan for five years from 667. The shrine is dedicated to Emperor Tenji, the 38th Emperor of Japan, who was involved in the Taika Reform as Naka no Oe no Oji Prince and moved the capital from Asuka in Nara to Otsu in Omi.

After passing along the long forest approach, a vermilion tower gate surrounded by lush greenery comes into view.
Omi Shrine is not only an important cultural property of Japan,
but also a sacred place for fans of Chihayafuru.
Walking among the towering old trees, the air carries a faint scent of wood and moss, and you can deeply feel the calm and tranquility brought by its long history.
Strolling through the green forest, it feels as if your entire body, mind, and spirit have been thoroughly cleansed.

Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum

The Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum is the premier destination for dinosaur exhibits and more here at one of one of Japan’s largest museums. Its home in Katsuyama City is where many ancient teeth, bones, footprints and other relics from vertebrate animals like dinosaurs have been found in Japan.

I brought family and friends to the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum.
It truly lives up to its reputation as a world-class dinosaur destination. Both the indoor and outdoor areas are so well done.
Inside, there are incredibly impressive skeleton fossils and animatronic dinosaurs, with lots of information to learn; the outdoor area is also huge, and the kids explored the dinosaur forest, discovering all kinds of surprises. They had so much fun they didn't want to leave〜
Seeing everyone having such a great time, I truly think this is a dream destination for families with kids! I highly recommend it to anyone with a dinosaur fan in the family.

Kitaro Train

This wrapped train features characters from the popular manga GeGeGe no Kitaro. Running along the JR Sakai Line between Sakaiminato and Yonago, it’s a favorite among Kitaro fans from Japan and abroad.

We finally had the chance to ride the decorated Kitaro Train. It was packed with Kitaro elements, and we couldn't stop taking pictures, leaving us with many wonderful photos. If you get the chance, be sure to ride it.
