Udon Baka Ichidai is about 7 minutes on foot from Kotoden Kawaramachi Station, and is a famous Udon restaurant that has lines forming outside. The restaurant is covered by the media, such as on TV and in magazines, and is visited by many famous people.
Custom flour is used for the noodles, which the restaurant makes a point on hand cutting. As it has been decided that the udon is past its prime beyond 10 minutes of being removed from the pot, the restaurant is adamant about always serving freshly made udon.
The popular menu is the Kama butter udon. The egg and butter entangles the noodles, which is topped with black pepper, and tastes like Carbonara.
Ordering is a self-service style where one picks up a tray, orders the udon one would like, and then chooses any toppings from a wide selection. There are also other varieties of dishes, such as the classic meat udon and Bukkake udon.
It is also perfect for breakfast as the restaurant is open from early in the morning.
