It exhibits 39 different trains of Shinkansen, conventional trains and Superconducting Maglev.
As you enter, you will find a “Symbol display”, there are three trains that set world speed records at that time, such as Class C62 Steam Locomotive, Class 955 Experimental Shinkansen (300X) and MLX01-1 Superconducting Maglev.

It is spectacular to see the old and trains displayed together in the main exhibition room. Visitors are allowed to look closely, touch and go inside these trains. One of the highlights is the displays of Shinkansen from past generations from Series 0 to Series N700. Visitors can experience the history of Shinkansen by viewing the actual trains. Also, it is fun to tour the inside of a retro vehicle like Hoji 6005 Steam passenger car.

Don’t miss the elaborate driving simulators. In the Shinkansen simulator “N700”, you will experience driving the Series N700 Shinkansen between Tokyo and Nagoya in a life-size cabin. You will find yourself immersed in driving since the scenery along the train line like Mt. Fuji are realistically recreated using computer graphics. The Conventional train driving simulator “Unten” is also popular. (Both driving experiences are available on a first-come, first-served basis for a fee)

The huge railroad diorama, which recreates the scenery along the Tokaido Shinkansen line between Tokyo and Osaka, is also worth a visit. It recreates 24 hours of railways in about 20 minutes and you can see many beautiful scenes in the models.
We also recommend “Delica Station” which sells Ekiben sold at Nagoya station and other items. (Ekiben: bento box sold at train stations) You can enjoy the Ekiben inside the museum, and Ice cream, which is sold on Shinkansen, is also available to purchase.
