Onaruto Bridge that links Awaji Island and Shikoku, spanning 1,629m over Naruto Channel known for whirlpools. Together with Akashi kaikyo Bridge, you can go from Kansai Region directly to Shikoku, and it has been part of a popular touring route.
Below the road, a promenade “Uzu no Michi” runs for about 450m (1,476 feet) above the sea. Through the glass floor, you can look down at one of the world’s three biggest whirlpools about 45m (148 feet) below.
On Awaji Island, there are “Uzu-no-Oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial” and “Michi-no-eki Uzushio” and other facilities, where you can enjoy Awaji Island’s gourmet and marvelous sceneries of Onaruto Bridge through a telescope and observation platform.
