Although its official name is the Enoshima Electric Railway, it has long been loved by people under the nickname "Enoden". It runs from Kamakura to Fujisawa via Hase, Shichirigahama, and Enoshima, and not only are there many famous places and historical sites along the line, but the sight of the Enoden running itself has become a representative scenery of Shonan.
The Enoden runs slowly along the edge of the houses along the line. Between" Inamuragasaki Station" and" Koshigoe Station," the Enoden runs along the sea and offers a beautiful view. Between" Koshigoe Station" and" Enoshima Station," the train runs on the road as a combination track and has the sharpest curve of any railroad in Japan.
Many movies and dramas are set in Shonan, and Shonan frequently appears in anime. The trains that run past the railway crossings facing the sea have become internationally famous. "Gokurakuji Station" and the surrounding area, where the 1970s drama "Oretachi no Asa" was set, attracted many fans and created a huge boom.
