Nara Kingyo Museum

Located in Nara Prefecture, renowned as one of Japan's prime goldfish breeding regions, this is one of the country's largest goldfish museums. Inside the tourism-focused complex "M! Nara", visitors can immerse themselves in a cutting-edge "Entertainment Aquarium" created by leading artists.

The museum underwent a renovation in 2021, doubling its size and the number of goldfish from before. Unique areas were added, such as the world's first diamond-cut tank featuring a performance of stained glass and disco mirror balls titled "JAPANESE AQUARIUM DISCO". Another highlight is "JAPONE Alley", which recreates the townscapes of the Edo period with 21 Japanese umbrellas and seductive lights, allowing visitors to savor the beauty of Japan. The goldfish swimming in the tanks were raised in Yamatokoriyama City, Nara. With around 3,000 fish from classic to rare breeds, comparing the various types is also a delight.

From trick art corners where you can take photos of yourself riding a goldfish or scooping them, all areas within the museum are photo-friendly. There are photo stands placed throughout, ensuring guests can capture an unbeatable, Instagram-worthy shot.
