Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten Branch Miyage Nara Sanjo Store

A souvenir shop by Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten, offering Nara souvenirs crafted with a focus on traditional handwork.

Last update :

In July 2022, Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten, a retailer of handicrafts and goods from across Japan, carried out a major renovation of its “Nihonichi Nara Sanjo Store,” transforming it into a shop offering about 1,300 Nara-themed souvenirs crafted with a focus on local handwork.

The main attraction is a range of exclusive original items featuring the deer, a symbol of Nara. These include individually hand-painted clay figurines, magnets made from Yoshino cedar, tote bags and hand towels dyed using the chusen technique, as well as sweets from the “Shikajika” series such as snacks made with red rice and cream senbei—items you’ll want to buy for yourself as well as for souvenirs.
In addition to the original products, the store also offers a rich selection of Nara-brand foods sourced from across the prefecture, including somen noodles and craft cola.

For a snack while exploring, the takeout sweet Shikajika Ice Monaka—gelato made with Nara-grown strawberries or roasted green tea, sandwiched in deer-shaped monaka wafers—is highly recommended. At the store entrance, don’t miss the Omikuji Tower, lined with colorful ceramic fortune slips shaped like deer, daruma dolls, Mount Fuji, and more.
