Yamate Jubankan Restaurant & Cafe
A historic western-style restaurant upon a hill.
Yamate Jubankan Restaurant & Cafe was built in 1967 in commemoration of the 100th year of Meiji Period, which was likened to a foreign store in the days when Yokohama Port was opened. It stands on a hill in front of a cemetery of foreign people. The 1st floor is a casual cafe, and the 2nd floor is a French restaurant serving lunch and dinner by a lush garden where a soothing breeze flows by.
Yamate Jubankan originally opened as the 10th chain restaurant of “Katsuretsu-an,” a traditional cutlet restaurant established in 1927. Their DNA is passed on to the French restaurant where seasonal ingredients are generously used in their beautiful courses. Light and mellow texture, Yamate Jubankan’s special “Japanese beef tongue stew” and other traditional menu is really popular.
In the neighborhood, western desserts “Enoki-tei Main Shop,” Yamate Museum, and other tourist spots are attracting many visitors.
