This museum houses approximately 40 representative works by Hiroshi Senju, a globally renowned Japanese-style painter. Designed to let visitors experience his art while immersed in the natural beauty of Karuizawa, the museum incorporates a number of thoughtful touches throughout its space.

The building, designed by architect Ryue Nishizawa, features a fully glass exterior that allows natural light to flood in, creating a bright and open atmosphere. Surrounded by a colorful leaf garden, the museum offers a unique opportunity to enjoy art in harmony with Karuizawa’s ever-changing seasons. Even the museum floor follows the natural contours of the land, gently sloping in places—a charming and distinctive detail.

Inside, visitors can view Senju’s recent work Waterfall on Colors (2021), along with a rotating schedule of themed exhibitions. Video materials are also available to help guests explore the artist’s life and works in greater depth.

The museum features not only a gift shop offering original merchandise, but also an on-site branch of Karuizawa’s long-established bakery, Boulanger Asanoya. It’s the perfect place to stop by and relax after viewing the exhibits.

    融入自然景觀,呈現簡約禪意。館內收藏千住博的大型瀑布畫作,展廳以自然光襯托作品,營造寧靜氛圍,是藝術與自然完美結合的場所。
