The Seiko Museum Ginza
Experience the history of time and watches at the Seiko Museum in Ginza, the birthplace of Seiko.
The Seiko Museum Ginza offers insights into the history of the renowned Japanese watchmaker Seiko, as well as the history of time and watches. Commemorating the 160th anniversary of Seiko founder Kintaro Hattori's birth in 2020, the museum relocated from Sumida's Higashi-Mukojima to Ginza, Seiko's founding location, and reopened.
At the entrance on Namiki Street, a large pendulum clock "Rondo La Tour" with a 4.6m pendulum and multiple gears greets visitors. Spread over six floors, the museum showcases about 500 items, including a range of Seiko products and timepieces from different eras and cultures, such as sundials, pendulum clocks, and automaton clocks, organized by themes like "Precise (Seiko) time" and "Extreme Times."
The first-floor museum shop sells unique Seiko Museum-themed original goods, not available anywhere else. Located at the Ginza 4-chome intersection, the museum is close to the iconic "Seiko House Ginza" with its clock tower and "Seiko Dream Square," where Seiko brand products are sold, making it a must-visit for watch enthusiasts.
