Even after getting a number ticket and going back to the shop, you still have to wait in line, but it saves a lot of time. The udon noodles are super chewy and really tasty, and the freshly fried tempura is delicious too.

Udon SHIN
Nothing but the taste of fresh rolled, cut and boiled noodles topped with fresh fried tempura thanks to the spirited love of the owner at this udon shop.
An udon specialty shop that opened in Shinjuku in 2011. Even as it sits a few minutes’ walk from Shinjuku Station South Exit, this popular shop still draws crowds even on weekdays in its busiest season as well as from countless overseas tourists.
Each bowl of udon is a work of pride and joy, never made in advance. Each day they roll just enough dough for that day, made to order, cut and boiled in a large vat of water. The smooth, bouncy, and chewy noodles have a tasty bite that is truly unmatched.
On the menu you’ll find plenty of udon varieties, from chilled, strained Ten-zaru and Bukkake Udon to warm dipping udon or Kamatama Udon to taste. There’s plenty to taste and enjoy in both classic and creative styles. For a snack you can order a tempura or seasoned omelette roll as a side, or join the many who enjoy a drink from the Japanese sake, craft beer and shochu selection.
Shop hours are until 10pm, but they are known to close their doors early once their daily stock runs out. Make sure to swing by early for your best chances.
