Kendonya Handmade Udon
A popular udon noodle shop known for its chewy, homemade noodles and rich broth made from select ingredients.
Located just steps away from Keihan Fushimi Inari Station, this handmade udon shop has been a favorite for over 25 years since its opening in 1995, following the owner's 10 years of dedicated training. The shop's name derives from a phrase meaning "to make udon humbly and earnestly."
The udon is made from a special blend of flour, hand-rolled by the owner every morning. Steaming in a pressure cooker creates a unique texture that is both smooth and chewy. The broth, a blend of Rishiri kelp, bonito, Souda bonito, mackerel, and flying fish, offers a light Kansai-style flavor with a rich undertone. The menu features a wide variety of udon dishes, including Kitsune Udon topped with sweet fried tofu, egg custard, ankake (thick sauce), curry, and Bukkake Udon. They also serve rice bowls like Tamago Don and Oyako Don using their signature broth, as well as set menus combining udon and rice bowls.
Located near the popular tourist spot Fushimi Inari Taisha, the restaurant attracts both locals and tourists. With about 25 seats combining counter and table seating, expect a line around lunchtime. The shop closes once ingredients run out, so it's best to visit early.
