Sakura no Sato (Shizuoka Prefecture)
A premier cherry blossom viewing spot on the Izu Peninsula, where you can enjoy cherry blossoms from September to May each year.
Located at the foot of Mt. Omuro, Ito's symbol, this park is one of the Izu Peninsula's most famous spots for cherry blossoms. As the name suggests, the approximately 40,000 m² park is planted with 1,000 cherry trees, making it a unique destination where visitors can enjoy cherry blossom viewing for over half the year, thanks to around 40 different varieties of cherry trees blooming at different times.
Following the December blooming of the winter cherry blossoms, February to March sees the blooming of Kawazu cherry trees, followed by early-blooming Oshima cherry trees, Jōgasaki cherry trees, and Ito cherry trees in March. Late March to early April is the peak season for Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms, with events and light-ups being held in the park. The succession of blooms continues with double-flowered cherry trees and October cherry trees in autumn, creating beautiful scenes against the backdrop of the beautiful bowl-shaped Mt. Omuro. Additionally, it's an excellent spot to view the annual February mid-month burning of Mt. Omuro.
The park includes a dog run, making it popular among visitors who wish to enjoy cherry blossom viewing with their pets. The adjacent Mt. Omuro's lift allows small dogs, so it's recommended for dog owners to visit both places.
