The Naoshima New Museum of Art, opened in 2025, marks a new chapter in the Benesse Art Site Naoshima project, an art initiative spanning more than 35 years across the islands of Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima in the Seto Inland Sea.

Designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando, the museum features three full levels, two underground and one above, that keep four galleries and café with panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea. The museum was designed specifically to intertwine with the surrounding natural environment and celebrate the local communities in a unique space that blends nature, architecture, and artwork for a heightened experience in contemporary art.

The museum showcases contemporary artworks by artists from Japan and other regions across Asia. The inaugural exhibition features twelve artists/groups, including Takashi Murakami, Makoto Aida, Martha Atienza, and Cai Guo-Qiang. Additionally, the museum actively hosts events such as talks and workshops, fostering vibrant exchanges between visitors and local communities.
