Mount Fuji Radar Dome Museum
An interactive learning facility where you can have fun learning about the history of the Mount Fuji Radar and the environment at the summit.
This educational facility features the relocated Mount Fuji Radar, which played an indispensable role in Japan’s weather observation for 35 years after being installed on the summit in 1964. Visitors can enjoy learning about the history of the radar and weather observation.
In 2022, the exhibits were fully renewed, with a new disaster prevention area added. In addition to opening the inside of the 5-meter-diameter radar dome to the public, the museum offers a theater screening a welcome movie with animation and an Approx. 50-minute documentary tracing the history of the radar, as well as a quiz rally where visitors can receive a Mount Fuji postcard, among many other exhibits. The cold experience corner, which recreates the harsh environment at the summit of Mount Fuji, feels highly immersive through wind, video, and sound. Highlights include situations such as blizzards and sunrise views. The observation deck on the third floor, where you can enjoy an unobstructed panoramic view of Mount Fuji, is also a popular photo spot.
The facility is next to Michi-no-Eki Fujiyoshida, a roadside station convenient for dining, shopping, and taking a break. When you visit the Mount Fuji Radar Dome Museum, it is also worth stopping by the roadside station.
