You have to take off your shoes and put them in a plastic bag before entering the main keep, but you have to carry your shoes with you the whole time. It's inconvenient, especially when climbing stairs or trying to take photos.

A famous historical site and castle in Japan. The scenery is beautiful in every season.

This is one of the must-see spots in Nagano, especially for castle fans. With over 400 years of history and never having been destroyed, it's truly a rare and precious site.

Matsumoto Castle is almost as popular and well-known as Himeji Castle. One is white, the other is black—each has its own unique charm. Among all the castles in Japan, this one has one of the most beautiful layouts and is really well preserved. Definitely worth a visit.
