I love the winter scenery here.
It’s like a dreamy fairy tale!
The air is so fresh!
No matter how you take photos, the scenery always looks amazing.
The gassho-zukuri roofs are really steep, mainly to keep snow from piling up. The whole structure is made of wood without a single nail, and the thatched roof keeps it warm in winter.

I came to Shirakawa-go full of excitement to see the legendary gingerbread houses, but unfortunately there wasn't enough snow, so I missed out on the classic snowy scenery. Guess I'll just have to come back next time!
This place really has that early Japanese architecture vibe. It's also super convenient to get here by bus.

The gassho-zukuri houses are really unique and beautiful. A lot of people want to stay overnight, so you definitely need to book in advance if you want to stay here.
This place is really beautiful, but there aren't many places to stay, so you should definitely book ahead.
Shirakawa-go covered in snow during winter is just beautiful. The houses are so cute, they look like gingerbread houses.
You can pick up a free Chinese map at the visitor center, which is super helpful if you have trouble with directions. It really helps you avoid getting lost.

I really love this kind of traditional countryside lifestyle. I hope I can build a house like this and enjoy my retirement here someday.
