Okinawa Zoo & Museum really is a must-visit place if you're traveling with kids! The zoo area is very well maintained, and you can see lots of animals up close. We happened to see some mischievous apes play-fighting and grabbing things from each other, which was hilarious and had the whole family laughing.

There's also an interactive Children's Museum next door where kids can enjoy hands-on activities. The kids didn't want to leave, while the adults could also take a relaxing stroll. The admission is affordable, the facilities have plenty to offer, and the overall value for money is off the charts. I highly recommend spending half a day here to let the kids burn off some energy!

Okinawa Zoo & Museum is really worth adding to your itinerary. I originally thought it was just a zoo, but after spending half a day there, I still wanted more. This is Japan's southernmost zoo complex, with about 150 species of animals, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish. What makes it especially unique is that you can see rare animals from the “Ryukyu Arc” up close, such as Yakushima macaques and Ryukyu dogs, which you don't get to see just anywhere!

The whole park is comfortably laid out and is great for letting kids burn off some energy. Adults can also enjoy a leisurely walk and take their time looking at the animals. If you have enough time, I recommend setting aside at least half a day, or you really won't have enough time to see everything〜

If you want to add a family-friendly attraction where you can get close to nature to your Okinawa trip, in addition to shopping and trying the local food, Okinawa Zoo & Museum is definitely one to put on your list!

The zoo isn't very big and some of the facilities feel a bit old. The ticket price is really cheap though. In summer, it's hot and there aren't many places to escape the heat.
