When visiting Kobe Kitano Ijinkan, don’t miss this distinctive Starbucks! The building retains the strong character of an old Western-style residence, giving it a more vintage and elegant atmosphere than a typical location. If you’re tired from walking, stop in for a cup of coffee. I also saw quite a few international visitors inside, all taking photos and experiencing the building’s unique charm. Combined with the international atmosphere of the Kitano neighborhood, it’s one of the area’s classic photo spots.

Kobe's Kitano Ijinkan district—I made a special trip to visit this very distinctive Starbucks. The store was converted from the two-story wooden Western-style building “Kitano Monogatari.” The exterior retains the distinct charm of the ijinkan district and is truly different from a typical Starbucks.
Inside, you can also feel the atmosphere of a vintage Western-style house. The wooden architecture and warm interior design give it a real sense of history. Sitting inside with a cup of coffee feels less like simply buying a drink and more like stepping into an old Western-style house filled with stories.

This Western-style residence retains its elegant wooden structure, stained-glass windows, vintage fireplace, and classic furniture, giving it a strong sense of Western charm and history. The interior is comfortable, and every corner has a nostalgic atmosphere that makes you feel as if you've stepped into a century-old Western-style mansion. Ordering a cup of coffee and leisurely admiring the architectural details while experiencing Kobe's unique port city culture is a rare pleasure.

Starbucks is really good at transforming these historic buildings into cafes. This one was renovated from a two-story wooden Western-style house built in 1907, called Kitano Monogatari. It has a lot of historical significance. Definitely worth stopping by for a coffee break!
