Beautiful scenery and delicious food always make the heart yearn to travel. After my last post about autumn leaves 🍁, I found myself thinking again of that sea of pink moss phlox covering the ground. The view with Mt. Fuji in the background was especially unforgettable.
When the pink moss phlox filled my view, it felt as if romantic pink bubbles were floating through the air. My spirits lifted too, and even the photos seemed to have an extra touch of youthful energy.
The adorable FUJIYAMA COOKIE Mt. Fuji-shaped tin, with its soft pink colors, was simply irresistible and added a little extra happiness to the journey.
A springtime trip to encounter Mt. Fuji quietly began amid all this pink romance. ^_^ 🌸

I never imagined there could be such a dreamlike place in the world, where you can take in a vast, romantic sea of shibazakura and majestic Mt. Fuji at the same time. This is a limited annual event. Just before leaving for Lake Kawaguchi, I happened to see some photos online and was instantly captivated, so I decided right then that I had to add it to our itinerary.

It takes about an hour to reach the festival grounds on the dedicated bus from Kawaguchiko Station. As soon as you enter the park, you’re completely mesmerized by the dreamlike sea of flowers stretching out before you like a giant pink and purple carpet. And when you turn around, the magnificent Mt. Fuji, Japan’s sacred mountain, rises behind you. The blue sky, white clouds, snowcapped peak, and gradient carpet of flowers come together like a breathtaking landscape painting that you can never take enough pictures of.

There were also lots of lively food trucks around the festival grounds selling all kinds of authentic sweets and savory foods. We casually picked up a few things to eat, found a comfortable bench, and quietly gazed at Mt. Fuji in the distance while enjoying our food. At that moment, I was truly filled with an indescribable sense of peace and emotion.

This is definitely a breathtaking place that you’ll remember for the rest of your life. If I hadn’t happened to come across that photo online, I might have missed this beautiful encounter. I sincerely hope that by sharing my experience, more people will have the chance to come and personally experience the wonder and beauty of this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

The Fuji Shibazakura Festival, a dreamy event featuring spectacular views of Mt. Fuji and a sea of pink flowers!

Held every spring at Fuji Motosuko Resort, the festival features hundreds of thousands of moss phlox plants of various varieties blooming at the foot of Mt. Fuji, weaving together a striking carpet of pink and purple flowers. The majestic snowcapped peak of Mt. Fuji creates a beautiful contrast with the sprawling flower fields, making every photo look like a postcard. The grounds also offer a variety of food stalls and unique displays, making this an annual romantic event not to be missed when visiting the Mt. Fuji area!

Visited in late April. The view of Mt. Fuji and the moss phlox was even more beautiful than I imagined. I also enjoyed the limited-time Peter Rabbit English garden, shop, and cafe.
Since it’s open for more than a month, I recommend going on a sunny day if your schedule allows.

I originally thought it would just be flower viewing, but it was even more beautiful in person than in the photos. Especially on a sunny day, Mt. Fuji with the shibazakura in full bloom looks absolutely dreamy.

When the weather is clear, seeing Mt. Fuji and the pink moss phlox in the same view is absolutely worth making a special trip for. It’s one of Japan’s iconic spring destinations.

The sea of pink flowers at the Fuji Shibazakura Festival is absolutely dreamy, and with Mt. Fuji in the background, it’s really photogenic. There were quite a lot of people, but the atmosphere was lively and it was definitely worth visiting!
