You can tell right away that this place has some age to it. The facilities aren’t flashy, but it was surprisingly enjoyable to look around.

It focuses on marine life from Toyama Bay, and there were lots of fish you don’t usually see at bigger aquariums. The explanations were also really thoughtfully written, so you end up learning a lot as you go.

It’s a small, cute aquarium, not one of those huge, super dramatic ones. The place isn’t very big, so you can probably see everything in a little over an hour. Great for a casual stop if you’re already in the area.

Overall, it has a very simple, local feel. It’s not one of those newest, super flashy aquariums, but it’s really easy and relaxing to visit. The aquarium isn’t large, so you can see everything in about an hour. It fits nicely into a gap in your itinerary.
