  Camping and Water Activities at Lake Motosu in Yamanashi Prefecture

  Summer is the season for outdoor activities! This year, after visiting Kozushima, I decided to go on a second camping trip. I decided to go with Lake Motosu in Yamanashi Prefecture for my second trip, which is around a 2-hour drive from the heart of Tokyo.

  Kozushima, a Remote Island Easily Accessible from the Heart of Tokyo

  Kozushima is a remote island located 178km south of Tokyo, and it is part of the Izu Islands. It is a gorgeous resort area, with beautiful oceans, mountains, and starry skies. Kozushima is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I had a lovely time camping there recently, so I’ll be introducing my experience and the island.

  Okinawa Prefecture – Tropical Fruit Shaved Ice at Fruits Parlor Ryu-Pin

  “Nakayukui Market at Onna no Eki” is a Michi-no-Eki (roadside rest area) located in Onna Village in the heart of Okinawa Prefecture. It is located along Japan National Route 58, known for its stunning view of the coast, and is an extremely popular rest spot packed with souvenirs, local produce, and gourmet restaurants. Fruits Parlor Ryu-Pin is a shaved ice shop that uses plenty of Okinawan fruits in their products. It is a famous shop that is often featured on TV or in guide books!

  Introducing a Souvenir from Hida-Takayama: " The Cute Legend of Sarubobo"!

  In the northern part of Gifu Prefecture lies a region called Hida. Speaking of Hida, the doll named Sarubobo is a famous product. In the souvenir shops, many treats and sundry goods designed with the Sarubobo logo line the shelves. I received a cookie called "The Cute Legend of Sarubobo" from a friend.

  Enjoying a Beautiful View of Mt. Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture’s Fujiyoshida – Arakurayama Sengen Park

  If you walk about 10 minutes from the Fujikyuko Line’s Shimoyoshida Station, in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, then climb 398 steps, you will reach Arakurayama Sengen Park, a must-visit location. This is an admission-free park giving where you can enjoy a fine view of Mount Fuji and commanding a panoramic view of Fujiyoshida.

  Shizuoka Specialty – A Delicious Flavor Unchanged by the Ages! Unagi Pie

  Unagi (eel) is known across Japan as a specialty of Shizuoka Prefecture. A unique item made with that unagi is this “Unagi Pie.” Unagi Pie is made by making a cookie out of powdered unagi, baking it, and finishing it off with a sauce like that used on grilled unagi. This snack has been made by hand by craftsmen since 1961, and surprisingly enough it is said that they make 200,000 pies per day.
