Togakushi Shrine
Amanoiwato mythology has been passed on here and this shrine with over 2000 years of history has been the training place in mountain worshipping since around AD 850. Hokosha Hall at the bottom of the mountain, Hinomikosha, Chusha, Okusha, and Kuzuryusha Halls consist of Togakushi.The whole Mt.Togakushi has been sanctified as a holy place, a power spot that attracts visitors.
Togakushi Shrine in Nagano let me truly experience the magic of a spiritual power spot in Japan.
In mid-April 2023, it was still bright and sunny at the base of the mountain, but when I took the bus to the entrance of the approach, it started drizzling. As soon as I passed through the torii gate, it suddenly began snowing heavily.
As I walked alone toward the Okusha, surrounded by a world of pure white snow, I was deeply moved. I felt I had witnessed the mystical and sacred presence of nature and the gods here.
