Ueno Zoo
This is Japan’s first ever zoo, founded in 1882. Despite its urban setting in the heart of Tokyo, it still keeps a lush, natural environment as well as about 2,500 different animal friends of some 300 different species.
Besides the popular pandas, the shoebills are another highlight—there are four of them, they're super cute and really active. It's a great place to bring kids.
EDO WONDERLAND
Nikko Edomura is a theme park where guests can experience what it was like in the Edo period (1603-1868) in the present day. The vast grounds are made to look like an authentic townscape, with features like olden highways, inns, shopping streets, ninja villages, and samurai residences. In the dress-up area, guests can change clothes and transform themselves into Edo residents like ninjas, samurai, and feudal lords. Furthermore, there are so many hands-on experiences available to enjoy!
The Ninja Trick House is a lot of fun and will leave you feeling dizzy! The Oiran parade is also really special. It's a super interesting place and perfect for spending an afternoon.
