Gandate Gorge
Located at the confluence of the Osaka River and Nigori River, Gandate Gorge is home to the majestic Gandate Rock Wall, designated as a Natural Monument of Gifu Prefecture. This colossal rock formation stands 72 meters high and 120 meters wide, created by the lava flow from Mount Ontake's eruption about 54,000 years ago. The unique geological structure, known as "columnar jointing," gives the appearance of numerous columns standing side by side.
The towering rock walls and winding gorge really make you feel the incredible power of nature.
