Asahiyama Park

A lush, green park at the foot of Mt. Asahi, located in eastern Asahikawa, Hokkaido. It sits at an elevation of Approx. 295 m, and from inside the park you can take in sweeping views of downtown Asahikawa and the surrounding mountains. It’s also known for its well-preserved natural woodland. In spring, Approx. 3,500 Ezo-yamazakura cherry trees burst into bloom, making it a popular cherry-blossom viewing spot that draws big crowds.

Not many people, so it’s really comfortable to walk around.
On a nice day the views are pretty great. Perfect for a quiet stroll and just zoning out.
It’s not a lively, bustling spot, but it feels super relaxing and healing.

Katsurahama Aquarium

It’s a super relaxed place to walk around—no crowds at all. The animals are really close to the visitors, so kids will love it. The whole place feels kind of simple and a bit old-fashioned, but that actually gives it a nice local vibe. It’s perfect to stop by while taking a stroll around Katsurahama.

There are tons of local Kyoto snacks, sweets, and souvenir shops here. You can find things like yatsuhashi, matcha treats, and cute little items. Downstairs, there's a food court where you can grab ramen, sushi, or just have some coffee. The place is really clean and air-conditioned, so it's super comfortable to walk around. The vibe is way more relaxed than a department store. It's perfect for dropping by, picking up some souvenirs, or just taking a break before heading up to the Kyoto Tower observation deck.

This multipurpose culture and tourism facility serves as an outdoor recreation of a Kumamoto Castle hill at the foot the mountain. Here you’ll find Kumamoto’s local gourmet, plenty of shopping and a chance to dive into the history of Kumamoto’s history.

They recreated the old castle town style there. The wooden buildings and tile roofs really make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. It’s a great spot for photos with a lot of character.

This place is perfect for kids! There are interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and simulators. My child was totally absorbed and had a blast.

Soto Japan Heritage Center Hachioji Museum

A museum operated by Hachioji City, located on the 3rd floor of the commercial complex Southern Sky Tower Hachioji, directly connected to the south exit of Hachioji Station. It introduces the story “Reiki Manzan: Mt. Takao, a Soto Story Woven by the Prayers of the People,” the only story in Tokyo officially recognized as Japan Heritage, along with the history and culture of Hachioji. In the introduction zone, projection mapping and video present Hachioji’s four seasons, history, culture, and Japan Heritage.

Pretty interesting~ It mainly introduces Hachioji’s history, culture, and local traditional industries, like textiles, music, and festivals. The exhibition space isn’t big, but it’s thoughtfully put together. There are interactive displays, videos, and some hands-on areas, so you can take your time looking around. The atmosphere inside is really comfortable and doesn’t feel too formal or boring, so it’s great for anyone who wants to learn more about the local story. Overall, you can probably finish it in about 30–40 minutes, and there’s a shopping street right nearby, so after the museum you can easily grab something to eat or pick up some souvenirs~

Park Place Oita is a mega retail complex and home to 160 specialty shops, along with AEON, an electronics retailer, and a movie theater. Bookmark this spot for leisurely shopping hugged by park-esque vibes thanks to picturesque fountains, a canal with spring water, and seasonal greenery. The rooftop park Shangri-La is a popular relaxation spot, with playground equipment and spacious lawns for visitors to enjoy.

Super fun place to shop! This mall is huge and has everything—clothing, food, a movie theater, and all kinds of stores. There’s even an outdoor area where you can relax and take photos. It gets pretty crowded on weekends, but the vibe is lively and there are tons of restaurant options. Whether you’re craving Japanese, Western food, or desserts, you’ll find it here 🍰. Overall, it’s really comfortable to walk around. Definitely one of the must-visit shopping spots in Oita!

Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street

Osaka's representative shopping arcade. It is said to be "the longest shopping arcade in Japan" with a total length of about 2.6 km from Tenjinbashi 1-chome to 7-chome. It takes about 40 minutes to walk from one end of the arcade to the other. The arcade began to flourish when it became the main approach to Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, which is located in 2-chome and is dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, the god of learning.

The head shrine of Kotohira Shrine stands on Mt. Zozu. It is visited by about 4 million worshippers a year. The main deity, Oomononushinokami, has been known since before the Middle Ages as a guardian deity of maritime traffic and a deity that brings a bountiful harvest and prosperity of industry and culture.

Beppu onsen is the collective name for all of the hot springs across Beppu City in Oita Prefecture. With 2,847 different springs that produce about 130,000 kiloliters of spring water every day, its ranked among the highest of hot springs in Japan. Beppu Onsen is divided into 8 areas and is also called Beppu Hatto or Bappu Onsenkyo. The many different springs offer different water properties and colors, so you won’t want to miss the chance to visit as many different hot springs as possible.
