Oze National Park (Gunma Side)

Spanning Gunma, Fukushima, Niigata, and Tochigi prefectures, Oze National Park is one of Japan’s leading natural parks and home to the largest highland marsh in Honshu. Walk the boardwalk from Hatomachi Pass, the gateway on the Gunma side, and you’ll find the vast Ozegahara marshland at an elevation of Approx. 1,400 meters, along with sweeping views of Mt. Shibutsu and Mt. Hiuchigatake.

Gokanosho

Located deep in the mountains along the border with Miyazaki Prefecture, Gokanosho is a remote hidden region surrounded by steep gorges. According to legend, it once served as a refuge for the defeated warriors of the Heike clan. The surrounding mountains rise between 1,300 and 1,700 meters, and although the area is heavily forested, small settlements have existed here since long ago, nourished by the Kawabe River-one of Kumamoto’s major waterways-which originates in this region.

Kawaramachi Streetscape

The Kawaramachi area in Gifu City is the famed downtown drag that covers the Ukai Viewing Boat Dock on the south bank of the Nagara River westward through Minatomachi, Tamamachi, and Motohamamachi. This esteemed castle town was first constructed by Dosan Saito and later developed to its heyday by Oda Nobunaga, who used it as a base in his quest for unifying Japan. Ganjoji Temple (Gifu)

Located in Otokiri, the easternmost part of Gifu City, this temple is the 16th stop on the Mino Thirty-three Kannon Pilgrimage and the 19th stop on the Mino Shikoku Pilgrimage. Approximately 1300 years ago, a powerful Mino clan leader, Murakuni Oyori, enshrined a Buddha statue, which was later relocated to its current site by a monk named Taicho, leading to the establishment of the temple.

Kobe Kitano Ijinkan (Former Foreign Residences)

When the port of Kobe opened in 1868, the "Kobe Kitano Ijin-gai (foreign city)" developed as a land of foreign settlement. Located on a hill overlooking the ocean, the town has a unique mix of Western and Japanese style buildings. About 30 Western-style buildings have been preserved in their original state, and 16 are open to the public.
