Isuien Garden

A nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty featuring a strolling pond garden. Despite its location on the north side of Nara Park, between Todai-ji Temple and Kofuku-ji Temple, Isuien Garden is a tranquil Japanese garden secluded from its surroundings. It consists of two sections: the Front Garden, created in the early Edo period, and the Back Garden, developed during the Meiji period. Together, they offer a glimpse into the aesthetics of two different eras.

I really liked the design of Isuien Garden. Each section of the path offers a different perspective, and as you walk, you see the pond, waterfall, tea house, and distant mountain scenery all connected together. It didn't feel crowded at all, so I could quietly enjoy how nature and the garden blend together.

Deai Bridge

Deai Bridge is a 107-meter-long suspension bridge that leads to the Shirakawa-go gassho-zukuri village, a registered World Heritage site. The bridge connects the convenient public parking area, 'Village-Operated Sesaragi Park Parking Lot', to the village, and crossing the bridge brings you to the entrance of the village.

It feels like walking into a fairy tale. It’s a tiny village, and all the houses are so cute.
The steep, tall gassho-style roofs are really distinctive. Seeing it for the first time, I couldn’t stop taking photos.

Kusatsu City Aquatic Botanical Garden Mizunomori

Located on Karasuma Peninsula along the southeastern shore of Lake Biwa, the Kusatsu City Aquatic Botanical Garden Mizunomori is a serene garden designed around the theme of “Plants and People, Water and People.” Visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers throughout the year in a natural setting.

Kyoto Railway museum

Since the opening of Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum in 1972, it had been dubbed SL’s mecca. Then, it was remodeled into the Kyoto Railway Museum in 2016. Under their fundamental concept, “the hub of railway culture that progresses with its community,” you can learn railway history, safety and technology through amazing hands-on experience.

Clark Horse Garden

Located about a 10-minute drive north of Asahiyama Zoo, Clark Horse Garden is a scenic tourist ranch nestled in untouched natural surroundings. Osaka Tenmangu Shrine

This shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, known as the god of learning. The shrine has been known as "Tenjin-san of Tenma" by the people of Osaka since ancient times, and since its establishment in 949, people have entrusted it with all kinds of wishes, including those for plague, learning, and entertainment. During the exam season, the shrine is crowded with students preparing for exams.

The Tenjin Festival at Tenmangu Shrine, held every year from July 23rd to 25th, is one of Japan's top three festivals. It's always super lively and exciting!

Kongobuji

One of the holy Buddhist places opened by Reverend Kōbō Daishi Kūkai. The whole Mt. Koya above 800m-sea-level is the premises. With the main Kondo hall at the center, 117 sub-temples are built. Kongobuji temple’s roof is made of layers of cedar bark and a wooden water barrel is placed on the roof in case of fire.

Just sitting here quietly and taking in the view feels really relaxing. They even offer free hot tea and rice crackers for visitors to enjoy.

Toji Temple

This temple was built in 794 along with Sai-ji Temple two years after the capital city was moved to Heiankyo. Although Sai-ji turned into a ruin by the end of Heian Period, Toji kept being rebuilt after each fire damage. The Kondo (Golden) Hall built by Toyotomi Hideyori and the five-storied pagoda gifted by Tokugawa Iemitsu still remain to this day, designated as national treasures.

On the 21st of every month, there's a market during the temple's regular ceremony. You can find food, clothes, and all sorts of things—it's a lot of fun! Plus, it's just a little over a ten-minute walk from Kyoto Station.
