Miyama Pass Art Park

Located along the national highway at the Miyama Pass, which borders the towns of Kamifurano and Biei, the Miyama Pass Art Park is a playful, multifaceted facility. At the heart of the facility is the Trick Art Museum, which showcases a variety of fascinating trick art pieces that appear to pop out from flat surfaces or change depending on the angle they are viewed from.

Farm Tomita

Located in Nakafurano Town, Hokkaido, this tourist farm is famous for its large-scale, elegant lavender fields. In addition to the grand lavender fields, the farm is known for its "Irodori Field," a canvas of gently sloping hills adorned with vivid bands of flowers such as purple lavender, white baby's breath, and red poppies.

Every year, Farm Tomita attracts tons of flower lovers. Each type of flower blooms at a different time, so you can see lots of flowers all the way until October. As a huge flower fan, I absolutely love it here!

Ningle Terrace

Located just a 2-minute walk from the "Shin Furano Prince Hotel" in Furano City, Hokkaido, this shopping area is nestled among the trees. "Ningle" refers to the 15cm tall "forest wisdom keepers" who live in the forests of Hokkaido, as featured in playwright So Kuramoto's play "Ningle." The enchanting forest, reminiscent of a fairy tale, houses 15 log cabins selling crafts inspired by nature.

I really recommend coming here in winter when it snows. The snowy scenery with the lights is so beautiful—it feels just like a fairy tale. It's a perfect spot for photos!

Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Studio

This theme park is based on the open set used for the film "Twenty-Four Eyes," which depicts the interaction between a female teacher and her twelve students. Set along the coastline with a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea, the 10,000-square-meter site recreates a small village from the Taisho and early Showa periods.

They have all sorts of early Japanese toys here, plus the Tsuboi Sakae Literature Museum and a Japanese movie gallery. You can even see those nostalgic aluminum lunch boxes! There's just so much—great food, fun things to do, and lots of cool stuff to buy.

Yokai Art Museum

Located in the "Maze Town" area, with its irregular narrow streets near the popular Shodoshima tourist spot "Angel Road," the Yokai Art Museum is a complex of four galleries that utilize old buildings to exhibit yokai art.

It's rare to see a museum dedicated to yokai! The buildings are really old, too, so it actually feels like a bunch of yokai might pop out. Haha, it's super cute.

Roadside Station Shodoshima Furusato Village

The station offers a variety of activities such as sea kayaking and SUP, where you can fully enjoy the Seto Inland Sea and its scenic beauty. You can also partake in craft workshops where you can create beautiful objects out of driftwood, seagrass, and olive branches, as well as strawberry picking.

Choshi Valley Nature Zoo: Monkey Kingdom

The nature zoo is located in Choshi Valley, known for its scenic beauty alongside Kankakei on Shodoshima. The park is home to about 300 wild Japanese macaques that have been fed by humans. These macaques, designated as natural monuments of the prefecture, can be seen up close as they groom each other or huddle together for warmth. You can also enjoy feeding them.

There are so many Japanese macaques here. In the cold winter, they huddle together for warmth and look just like dumplings—it's really fun to watch!

The Japanese Cypress of Hoshoin

Hoshoin is the 54th temple in the Shodoshima 88 temples pilgrimage route. The 51st temple, Hojo-bo, and the 52nd temple, former Hachiman Shrine, are also located within the same grounds and have long been revered by people.

Hoshoin has the largest Japanese cypress in Japan! Each tree is over 1,600 years old.

Asakusa Jidaiya is known for revivaling rickshaw riding in Asakusa. Apart from rickshaws, visitors can experience traditional Japanese cultural activities such as Kimono rentals and Japanese cultural experiences.

The rickshaw puller shared stories about the streets and sightseeing spots in Asakusa. I really recommend wearing a kimono when you ride the rickshaw—it lets you experience Japanese culture on a deeper level!

Umikaji Terrace

Senaga Island with a 1.8km circumference is connected to Naha Airport with a marine road. This is where a multi resort facility stands. White buildings line the slope facing the emerald green ocean. It looks like a little town. The beauty was designed after the European resorts such as the Amalfi Coast in Italy and Santorini Island on the Aegean Sea.

Senaga Island is the newest and most beautiful spot around. You get the ocean, sunsets, and even planes to watch—it's gorgeous! Plus, there are hot springs, delicious food, and shops to explore. Totally worth a visit!
